Artist - Cora Salvino
As a fused glass artist, I am captivated by the dance of light and color within the transparent depths of glass. I strive to capture the world's ephemeral beauty with each piece and distill it into vibrant, tactile creations. My work is a celebration of the intricate interplay between form and texture as molten glass transforms under the heat of the kiln, yielding to my vision while retaining its essence. Each piece is a testament to the magical alchemy within the kiln's confines—a symphony of molten glass and imagination. I invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find beauty in the unexpected. In a world fraught with chaos and uncertainty, may my creations serve as a reminder of the inherent wonder that surrounds us, waiting to be discovered. Glass brings me joy. I seek to share in that joy.
My name is Cora Salvino. I am a fused glass artist. I love the beauty of glass and strive to share my delight in the interplay of light and glass.
I grew up in Chicago, IL, and attended Purdue University and then Chicago Medical School. I began doing stained glass art while in college (self-taught) and continued it throughout my adult life until 2015 when I discovered fused glass. I switched to fused glass and never looked back!
I make fused or kiln-formed glass. I gravitate to impressionistic and abstract styles, although I also make some figurative pieces and functional glass forms.
Most of my work is inspired by nature, but sometimes, the glass speaks to me!
