Artist - Karla Cisneros

Karla Cisneros headshot.png
My artwork reflects my passion for the environment, community, and storytelling. I paint
watercolors in the great outdoors, where I can capture moments of beauty in the natural
world, and explore the connections between people and their surroundings. My diverse
background in marine ecology, architecture, teaching, and public service has shaped
my artistic perspective and influences the themes of my work. My hope is that my art
inspires others to seek meaningful connections with Nature, to be defenders of
goodness and beauty in our world, and to engage in community building.

Karla Cisneros has painted watercolors directly from life since she was nine years old.
Her attention to the direct observation of fleeting subtleties, allows her to interpret and
capture the luminosity and brilliance of natural light.
Her education includes a Master’s Degree in Architecture, a Bachelor’s Degree in
Environmental Science, and certification as an elementary school teacher. She has
studied at the Glassell School and graduated from ‘Artist INC.’ Cisneros is a member of
the Watercolor Art Society of Houston, and the Houston Visual Arts Alliance. She works
out of Hardy Nance Studios, and participates in art markets and exhibitions in Houston,
Galveston, and San Antonio.
In her eight years on Houston City Council, Cisneros was a leading advocate and
supporter for public art, opportunities for artists, and embracing art as a rich form of
communication, and now continues her dedication to public service through her art.
